When an adolescent is struggling with an addiction, making the decision to receive care is an important step. At Northern Virginia Adolescent Treatment Center in Chantilly, Virginia, we aim to make the admissions process clear and straightforward so that taking that step is as easy as possible.
Admissions Criteria
Our programming is designed specifically for adolescent males and females ages 12-17. This allows us to provide focused, age-appropriate care that meets them where they are developmentally.
We offer care for young people who are struggling with addictions to a variety of substances, including:
- Alcohol
- Stimulants
- Opioids
- Benzodiazepines
- Inhalants
- Psychedelics
We are also able to provide support for adolescents who are suffering from co-occurring mental health concerns; however, adolescents must have a primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder to be admitted to our residential program.
Admissions Process
We understand that a crisis can happen at any time, so the admissions specialists at our Chantilly, Virginia, residential facility are available around the clock to offer you and your child the support you need.
To begin the admissions process, simply call our admissions line. You will be connected with a specialist who will provide a confidential assessment. This assessment can be done over the phone to determine if our facility can meet your child’s needs.
If an adolescent is currently at another facility, our admissions specialists may request records to gather more information. This ensures that we have a complete picture of their clinical needs.
Once the review is complete and the patient is approved for our program, the admissions specialist will work with you to schedule an admission time that is convenient for your family.
What To Bring
We recommend that each adolescent brings approximately one week’s worth of comfortable clothing. It is also important to bring any prescription medications your child is currently taking. Please note that all medications must be sealed in their original packaging.
To maintain a secure therapeutic environment for all patients, certain items are not allowed on our campus, including:
- Weapons of any kind
- Illegal substances
- Products that contain alcohol (e.g., mouthwash, hand sanitizer, etc.)
- Electronic devices, including laptops and cellphones
- Stuffed animals
- Personal pillows
A more detailed list of permitted and prohibited items will be provided in the new patient handbook during the admissions process.
